Course Overview

Nationally Recognised Queensland Senior First Aid includes CPR training

Senior First Aid and CPR

HLTFA1A, IFA02, CPR01 in Partial completion of 30224QLD

Course

Combination of HLTFA1A, CPR01 and IFA02.

Objective

 

To equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical application to competently administer emergency first aid, as well as the treatment of other illnesses and injuries.

Assessment

Senior First Aid has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on administering first aid.

Content

  • Legal Issues
  • Chain of Survival
  • DRABCD
  • Demonstrations and Practice on Manikins
  • Practical Assessment
  • First Aid Hygiene
  • Trauma Management
  • Medical Emergencies

Length

This course can be conducted in one of two ways at the discretion of the client:

  • A one day course, where students must also submit a workbook, completed at their own discretion.
  • A two day course, with further face-to-face contact.

Validity

The Statement of Attainment remains valid for three years from the completion date. It is recommended that cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills (CPR) are refreshed annually.

Advanced Resuscitation

(Oxygen Resuscitation, Therapy & Defibrillation)

Course

Combination of ADVR01, CPR01 and CPR03.

Objective

 

To provide qualified Senior First Aid certificate holders with advanced skills in oxygen resuscitation and therapy and in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Assessment

Advanced Resuscitation has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on administering advanced first aid.

  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Oxygen Resuscitation
  • Care and Storage of Oxygen Cylinders
  • Chain of Survival
  • Procedure for Administration of an AED

Length

Approximately 4 - 6 hours.

Validity

The Statement of Attainment remains valid for one year from the completion date.

Automated External Defibrillation

Course

Combination of CPR01 and CPR03.

Objective

 

To provide participants training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Assessment

Automated External Defibrillation has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on the Automated External Defibrillator.

  • Adult Resuscitation
  • Safety issues relating to the AED
  • Maintenance and Use of the AED

Length

Approximately 4 hours.

Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue

Course

CPR & Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue

Accreditation

Whilst First Aid Alive is a registered training organisation, registered with the Queensland Government in 2002 and is able issue nationally recognised statement of attainments in CPR, however, Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue is a non-accredited course and participants will only be issued statements of attendance, which are not nationally recognised.

Objective

To provide strategies for persons to perform a safe rescue of a victim who has received an electric shock or personal injuries while working on low voltage conductors or equipment.

Assessment

Practical CPR assessment and practical use of LV Rescue Kits
